Hello everyone! We hope you are just excited to read this blog post, as we are to present it to you! You see, we had the great pleasure of capturing Stevie and Dylan’s wedding day a few weeks ago! And, we’re here today to show you what we were able to capture and tell you a little about their day. So, keep reading if you’re ready to see a full wedding day with Intrigue Photography at the helm!
Stevie and Dylan reached out to us last year, and booked their wedding day with us. They are both an awesome couple, and you can tell that they truly love one another, even though we think Dylan annoys Stevie with his silly antics from time to time. Their Engagement Session can be found here.
It was a very hot, humid and cloudy day for a wedding. The clouds were perfect, actually, but the humidity and the heat was definitely something we would have been happy to not have. However, that didn’t stop any of us from enjoying this amazing wedding day! To start, Jeff dropped me off to start with the girls, while he headed to where the guys were all getting ready. I was immediately hugged and introduced to all the lovely ladies who were ready to start their celebration with Stevie. To start, I quickly started capturing all of the little details that Stevie had set aside for me to start on. Here are some of her lovely detail shots!
After the details, Stevie got dressed in a room privately with her Maid of Honor, Kelsey. While she got ready, the rest of her entourage waited with baited breath for her big reveal to them!
While this was all taking place, Jeff had started capturing Dylan and his groomsmen getting ready. They didn’t have a bunch of details for us to capture like Stevie did, but this is a very typical thing for us to encounter. He captured a lot of candid photos for the guys, as well as a quick ring shot too.
After the girls got ready, we all headed to the ceremony location to finish the prep work there, as well as to have Stevie show off her wedding day look to her father. Here is her first look with her father!
Shortly after her first look with her father, Stevie hid away while we got Dylan ready and prepared for his First Look with Stevie. There was a tiny malfunction with the boutineer, so we decided to do the First Look without it, while it was quickly remedied.
After their First Look, we gave Stevie and Dylan 5-10 minutes to soak up the moment, and be undisturbed by ourselves, and others. This is something we highly recommend for every couple getting married. The day just moves by so quickly, that it is truly an important moment to have, as you will likely not have another chance after the day gets moving along. So, while they had their moment together, Jeff and I started to capture some of the details from the ceremony.
After Stevie and Dylan enjoyed their moment, and we finished capturing some of the details from the ceremony location, everyone hid and got ready for the main event. Guests started to arrive and seat themselves in the beautiful outdoor location at the Grecian Center in Southgate Michigan.
Now it was time for the main event. Stevie and Dylan’s wedding ceremony! Everyone was excited and couldn’t wait to see Stevie walk down the aisle. We could feel the excitement in the air, and it only added to our own excitement for the day as well. Once Stevie made her way down the aisle, the ceremony was well under way, and there was a lot of laughter that happened during this ceremony. Dylan can be quite a funny guy, even under such pressure as this! The ceremony ended with a perfect dipped kiss from Dylan to Stevie, and they began to walk down the aisle, together as husband and wife. They even gave us an extra kiss along the way!
Next, was the signing of the Marriage License. This not only makes things “official”, but also was a great way for the Bridal Party to unwind, while Stevie, Dylan, and their two witnesses signed the Marriage License. We had a lot of fun during these short 10 minutes.
Another part of the day, that Jeff and I look forward to, is always the Family Formals. Most photographers find these to be boring, as they don’t get a lot of creative latitude for these types of shots. However, for us, we find it just as exciting and fun as the rest of the day, because we are able to meet the people who helped to shape and influence the Bride and Groom, whom we’ve grown so fond of. We had a lot of laughs here, and you can simply see the happiness of their family for their union!
After we were finished capturing all of the family formals, we moved on to the Bridal Party formals. Typically, we take care of these after the First Look, before the Ceremony begins, but because guests were arriving a littler earlier than expected, Stevie asked if we could push this back for her. Of course we said yes! We knew how much she wanted to surprise everyone with her dress as she walked down the aisle. So, here are some of the incredibly funny pictures we were able to capture of Stevie and Dylan’s Bridal Party together!
After the Bridal Party formals, we asked Stevie and Dylan to give Jeff and myself at least five more minutes for some portraits of just them together. We knew it was hot, and they were more than ready to go back inside and enjoy some AC, but they agreed to give us the five minutes we needed to finish this portion of their day. And we are so very glad we did! We truly ended up with some amazing portraits of them together, being happy and in love with one another. After those five minutes passed, we all went inside to the sweet sweet air-conditioned reception hall.
Once inside, it was time for the festivities of the night to begin. And that always begins with the announcement and introductions of the Bridal Party, followed by the happily married couple! Everyone cheered, and the excitement was even more palpable here than before. (I think everyone was happy to be out of the heat, which added to their excitement, lol.)
As soon as the entrances were finished, Stevie and Dylan decided to cut their cake right away. Now, if you remember, earlier I said that Dylan can be quite a silly guy. And it is true! However, during the cake cutting, Stevie showed us that she can be just as silly as he can be! These are some truly adorable cake cutting photos!
After the cutting of the very delicious cake, Stevie and Dylan were entertained with the speeches that their Best Man and Maid of Honor had prepared. These speeches truly spoke of the love that their best friends had for them, and gave us some funny stories to think about. After the speeches were completed, Stevie’s grandmother gave the Blessing for the food.
Next, it was time for everyone to eat! However, the Grecian Center did something special, and that was to bring out the beautiful Prime Ribs, and light them on fire for everyone to see! (Sorry, I don’t know the technical terms for this, as I’m not much of a cook myself. lol) While dinner was being served, we started to capture as many of the reception details as we could.
After a very delicious dinner (thanks Stevie and Dylan!), Jeff and I prepared to capture the first dances. Now, a lot of people talk to each other during these dances, which totally isn’t a problem. However, it allowed us to see the many faces of Stevie and Dylan with each other, and with their parents. Dylan and his mother even broke away from each other during their dance, and started to boogie on down!
After these special dances, we had the bouquet toss and the garter toss to follow it up. Lots of fun happened during both of these events, and well… Just take a look for yourself!
Lots of laughter was had all night. After these main events took place, it was time for the dance floor to open up to everyone, and the party had truly started. Enjoy some of these candid moments, and some posed ones as well! This was also when we took the opportunity to capture some stunning photos of their rings!
Whew! The party went on longer than Jeff and I were scheduled to be there, but we experienced a lot throughout Stevie and Dylan’s day! We had a lot of fun with this couple, and we truly wish them the best in all their adventures together in the future to come. Our last visual for you to enjoy, is the highlights reel we had created for them to see when we met up with them yesterday, to reveal their portraits to them!
