Hello everyone! It’s that time again; time to share one of our previously un-blogged sessions from the past. This time, we’re going to share a small family session in Downtown Detroit that was a Mother’s Day gift.
You see, the daughter is the one who initially reached out to Jeff and I for the session, but she wanted her brother there, along with her mother, so her mother could have these precious photos of her two children and herself together. I was thrilled to help her! So, we recommended a few places, and the daughter decided that a photo tour of Detroit would be best! We started at Campus Martius of Downtown Detroit to get everyone warmed up, and accustomed to having their portraits taken by Jeff and myself.
After Campus Martius, Jeff and I then took this family to the Spirit of Detroit Statue for a few family photos as well. We didn’t stay long, as we wanted to walk along the RiverWalk of Detroit. It was a beautiful day, and we didn’t want this lovely family to miss out.
As we started our trip along the Detroit RiverWalk, we stumbled upon an adorable mural of race cars, racing against an ice cream truck. This mural is titled “Da Race Detroit”, and was painted by New York Artist, Mitchell Schorr, and spans 160 feet wide. It’s located directly between the GM Plaza and the Detroit Port Authority. (You can learn more about the artist and mural here: Da Race Detroit Mural)
Next, we moved onto the RiverWalk itself, and took some photos along the river’s edge, as well as on some of the benches they have throughout the RiverWalk parks. It was such a beautiful day out, that we often had to wait for other RiverWalk goers to pass by so we could take a shot, but it was well worth it. ๐
Finally, we finished the day with some portraits inside the GM Plaza area of the RiverWalk itself. Here we took a couple in front of the Fountains that children love to play in during the summer months, along the Detroit River itself, and also with the beautiful Renaissance Center (or GM Building) standing tall in the background.
After that, we finished up and wished the small family our best, and thanked them for taking this amazing photo adventure with us! We had so much fun showing off different spots of Downtown Detroit to this family, all while taking pictures of them that they will cherish for a lifetime. We hope you’ve enjoyed their journey as well, and if you’re ever in need of family photos, please let us know! It would be our pleasure to give you a photo tour of Detroit as well. ๐
xoxo,
Jess
