So, how did you spend your April Fool’s day? We hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful day as much as we did! Jessica and I were honored to be the wedding photographers for a touching wedding in Monroe Michigan. If you’re from Michigan, you know that we haven’t exactly seen much of the sun in the last few months. In fact, it has been a running joke during this time between myself and Jessica saying something along the lines of “When did we move to Seattle?!” I mean, we literally had a whopping two whole days of sunshine in January! You might understand these two photographers’ concern then, as our most recent wedding approached… would the weather give us the new norm? Turns out, God would smile brightly on this wonderful couple last Saturday and give them the most beautiful sunny (and moderately warm) day imaginable! Yes! I do believe in miracles!
Photography geek exuberance aside… The setting for this touching wedding day was perfection in every way. The festivities were to take place entirely in Monroe Michigan. Which, if you haven’t visited Monroe, it truly is one of the state’s more charming smaller cities. This town is blessed with a quaint downtown, close proximity to the natural beauty of Lake Erie, and some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet!
Our day started out at the beautiful Crosspointe Church. You’ll find that our wedding photography adventures on this early spring day would take us on a small tour of the Downtown, back to the church for the ceremony, on to the ever gorgeous Sterling State Park, and then back downtown to the Knights of Columbus hall where the reception would be held.
As photographers, you can imagine we’ve seen some weddings in our day. In our experiences, we’ve found that each wedding is an embodiment of the bride and groom, their families, and their respective faith. This day was no different as we were treated to a very joyful, touching, and emotional ceremony. I would like to add that it was made a bit more special to our bride and groom because the father of the groom was to officiate the proceedings. As the day’s story unfolded, everyone was rewarded with truly one of the most beautiful wedding days imaginable. It was a picture of perfection amidst any of the small imperfections that simply provided more uniqueness, character, and distinctiveness to the day’s proceedings.
After the touching nuptials and after we had captured the family photographs at the church, Jess and I went with Holly and Dennis to spend a little time making some beautiful art together at Sterling State Park. While the photography experience there was a bit chilly, our couple handled it with poise as we all enjoyed the warm sun in spite of the cool breezes at the beach. Really though, we don’t believe there was anything that could have broken the joy of these two lovebirds on this day!
Once we were ready to go, we all made our way back to Monroe and prepared to get the party going! The staff at the Knights of Columbus had all the finer details handled, and the DJ with Mid Michigan Entertainment was on point with everything. We really couldn’t imagine a better way to close out this wedding day.
Thanks again, Holly and Dennis for inviting us to enjoy your day together. There’s no doubt in our mind that you two will have a very special and blessed life together!
