Today we get the honor of sharing these amazing Engagement Portraits with you all! You see, a year from today (July 18, 2020), we will be photographing the wedding between Amy & Greg, and so we think it’s pretty cool that we can share their engagement pictures with you, a year prior to their wedding date! So, if you’re into nature, and you’re really wanting to see exactly what we can do in nature for an engagement session at Crosswinds Marsh, then look no further than below…
First, let’s introduce you to our lovely couple, Amy & Greg. Amy is a very personable gal, who, in Greg’s words, is “happy, pretty, caring, remembers all the little details, creative, and silly.” Quite honestly, I’ve had a lot of fun chatting with Amy via text in between our meetings and this session. She is definitely a happy woman, with a beautiful smile! Greg, is a man who, in Amy’s words, is “thoughtful about everything that may affect her”. Ladies, we all know what that means! He’s a dreamy man… (Sorry ladies, but he’s already taken! lol)
Okay, but in all seriousness, these two are amazing. When we connected to chat about their wedding day, we had a great time together. There was a lot of laughter, and we just connected with both Amy & Greg on a different level. We all could feel that we were just right for one another. (In the matters of photography, and being photographed, of course. Also, click the link before this side note text to see why it’s so important to connect with your photographers!) We laughed together, and were super excited about the prospects of working with one another. When I asked them, what one word describes them as a couple, and they answered with “Silly”, I knew we were in for a treat! (And just for the record, they are both very silly, which is AWESOME! We like silly people, because we too, are very silly. Lol)
So, we all decided to have the engagement session at Crosswinds Marsh. (They love nature and hiking, the same as us!) This was the first time that Jeff and I had been there, and as we told Amy and Greg, we love exploring new places with people! Crosswinds Marsh did not disappoint either. It was so beautiful there! We arrived a bit early to scout the park out, and we were simply stunned with the variety of places that we could take portraits at. So, when Amy and Greg arrived, we had a few suggestions for them already.
First, we started with some simply photos along a small pathway. The trees were framing them beautifully here! We warmed them up with some quick photos, before taking a break to spray some deet. (The mosquitoes were loving us before this much needed break.) After the deet break, we got back to it, and Amy and Greg were already rocking everything I asked them to do for us! (Yes, I know the pictures aren’t in sync with the story here, but I really didn’t want to have a giant wall of text at the top before the story even began. Sorry!)
After a quick outfit change, we grabbed their dog, Smokey (who was being watched by Amy’s parents until we were ready for her) for a few snaps in front of some lovely wildflowers and a butterfly shaped bench they had in the park. After these quick few photos, we let Smokey go back with her grandparents, while we did some other awesome portraits with Amy and Greg! They had brought champagne, and so of course, we had to have some fun with that. We even had them practice their first dance a little bit on a boardwalk!
As the session went on, we found a few more amazing spots to capture their love for one another. Which, let me just say this; I’ve photographed tons of couples now, with my six years in this business, and I can spot real love a mile away. When you’re with these two, you can spot their love half a world away, easily. That’s how in love with one another they are! I mean, you can see it too, can’t you? The way Greg looks at Amy, and how he obviously wants the best for her, was just amazing to see throughout our session together. And the way Amy sneaks little peeks at Greg when she thinks he’s not looking, is just too cute for words! You can tell that she feels like he is her rock in life, and knowing that feeling intimately myself (for Jeff, of course), I just know without a doubt that these two will make it through anything together.
However, we finished off the session with some fun in the reeds, and a walk around the boardwalks. Smokey even had a few extra photos taken with her human parents, and we finished the Crosswinds Marsh Engagement Session with a quick game of leap frog, with lily pads on either side of them along the boardwalk. As night encroached upon us, we all had to say our goodbyes and thank you’s, before leaving this amazing session with lots of smiles on our faces from the amazing memories we had all created and shared together.
Thank you so very much Amy and Greg for allowing us to capture this special time in your lives together! We can’t wait for your wedding, and we hope you love your engagement pictures from Crosswinds Marsh!
xoxo,
Jess
