There’s something to be said for the level of comfort you can attain in working with a client multiple times leading up to their wedding day. This awesome couple, who were wed at the Silver Shores Waterfront banquet facility in Wyandotte Michigan, were no strangers to us and our “go with the flow” photography techniques once the time came for their wedding day. We had worked with them as photographers for their engagement session, as well as two family sessions – one in a studio, and the other was a lifestyle shoot. As a result, by the time their wedding day arrived, it was like visiting with old friends!
Let’s talk about their wedding now though. What a venue, and what a day! We were with the couple (separately) early on, and were fortunate to be able to capture the entire progression of events throughout the day – from getting ready, all the way to the moment the Deejay announced the last call. One of the most memorable events for us, was the ominous storm that was rolling up on us during their wedding ceremony (you can see the storm clouds in the wide angle shot of the ceremony below). As wedding photographers (and also as photographers who love spending time photographing nature), we relished the opportunity to incorporate the awesome scene that nature provided, along with the beauty of this wonderful event happening below the clouds. As fate would have it, the rains held off just long enough for the ceremony to complete. In addition, we were fortunate to be able to squeeze in a few of the formal shots just after the ceremony. The storm would blow in quickly though, and the rains came while we were pushing to get as many shots in as possible. At that point, we had to get creative, just so the couple could get all the shots they wanted with their family.
The reception hall featured a challenging contrast from the daylight beaming in just behind the head table, and a dark, warm, classy ambiance which would be the backdrop for the rest of our work here this day. We truly enjoyed the beauty that the Silver Shores Waterfront afforded us, and the challenge of balancing the natural light flowing in through the broad windows, and soft decorative lighting the venue had in place (not to mention the awesome DJ’s own party lights).
We hope you enjoy these images. If you’ve got a wedding planned at the Silver Shores Waterfront, or any venue, we’d love to show you what we can do for you!
